OPIRG Peterborough is holding its 2017 Annual General Meeting on Friday March 10. This year’s venue of AGM will be the Gathering Space, Gzowski College at Trent University.
Established in 1976 OPIRG Peterborough is a campus-based, community-oriented, non-profit organization committed to research, education and action on social justice and environmental issues.
The Annual General Meeting provides an opportunity for a year in review of OPIRG activities, the election of new board of directors followed by an address by Vanessa Gray, grassroots organizer from Aamjiwnaang First Nation. A former staff member of OPIRG, Vanessa is best known for hosting “Toxic Tours” across Chemical Valley in Canada with the goal of raising public awareness about how petrochemical plants have polluted and affected her community. She was one of the 9 line protesters who allegedly shut down an Enbridge pipeline.
The keynote address will be followed with a community meal and an opportunity for networking and exchange.
We welcome students, community members and everyone interested to learning more about OPIRG, become familiar with our activities, to volunteer, or join our board to come and join us at this event.
Date: Friday, March 10/4 pm – 7 pm
Location: The Gathering Space – Gzowski College – Trent University
The venue is wheelchair accessible and all are welcome.
