Take Action

Showing support for your community is extremely important to tackling social and environmental issues. However, taking action is a step further that is vital to creating change. See the resources below for a few ways that you can take action to challenge oppression. Make sure you do not limit yourself with what we have available, we encourage you to be constantly seeking ways to provoke change and challenge oppressive systems!

#CancelCanadaDay Phone Zap and Letter Writing

Join us on zoom on July 1st at 11 am – 12:30 pm EST to demand accountability from the so-called Canadian government.

The celebrations for so-called Canada Day need to end as Indigenous peoples are still undergoing violence and ultimately, genocide. The recent recoveries of mass grave sites on the grounds of Residential and Day schools are a clear example of which the government has incited violence towards Indigenous peoples and not only failed to take responsibility, but also failed to uncover the truth.

We need to hold the government accountable. Real action on their behalf is long overdue and we need immediate change. There is no pride in genocide.

Sending letters to government officials is one of the most effective ways of making our voices heard. During this event, we will be meeting over zoom and completing letters to be sent out on July 1st. We will also be doing a Phone Zap where we will collectively call government officials to demand change.

Letter templates and call scripts will be provided for the event, so just show up with a phone and a desire to take action!

The letter templates and call scripts focus on demanding government action for the Calls to Action as provided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. You are welcome to edit/alter/change the letter and script to best suit what you are demanding from government officials.

Accessibility Info: Automatic closed captions will be provided. Please reach out to us with regard to any accessibility needs.

This event is open to all, so we encourage you to share the event and invite friends and family to join you.
